Information desk

Quick answers before you board. Still lost? Ask in #help.

01Is it free?

Yes. englishchat.net runs on LibraIRC, a free network run by volunteers.

02Do I need to install anything?

No — every app here runs in your browser. Already use an IRC client? Connect to irc.librairc.net on port 6697 (TLS) and /join #lounge.

03Can I keep my nickname?

Yes. Once connected, type /msg NickServ help to see how to register it. Never reuse a password from another site.

04Is there voice or video?

The rooms are text chat. KiwiIRC has an optional video-call plugin, but you never have to use it.

05Someone is bothering me. What should I do?

Type /ignore theirnick, then tell a channel operator (nick with @) or open a ticket at librairc.net/helpdesk.

06What's IRC?

Internet Relay Chat — an open chat standard that has been around since 1988. Many apps, one network, no company owning your conversations.
